This US OPEN golf tounament was very exciting because we watched great player after great player choke down the stretch. Why? We choke because we are concerned with outcome thoughts like winning and score. If you want to decrease anxiety and pressure in your life, you need to focus on the process. As an example, focus on the steps to your goal like eating less or exercising 40 minutes per day and then….. let the outcome of weight loss happen. When you focus only on weight loss, you will feel more anxiety about your weight.
One step at a time will get you there and will reduce the pressure. Your “normal or default” setting emotionally…mentally needs to be that “place” where you were when you were at your best…achieving your goals personally…professionally. This default “head space” will become your secret weapon when the going gets tough.
